STATUS – 406 Back to Gallery

A Universal Electrode for High Strength and Crack Resistance

Alloys : Fe, Mn, Cr, Ni

DESCRIPTION :

STATUS – 406 electrode has unique features like very soft arc, nil spattering and self-peeling slag, easy to use on low amperage in all conventional position. It provides crack free, austenitic-feritic weld of superior strength.

APPLICATIONS:

Ideal for overlays on low and high alloy steel, tool steel, high-speed steel & cast steel. For joining austenitic manganese steel, armour steel, forged steel, dissimilar steel and difficult to weld steel, indefinite steels. Typical application includes surfacing on forged shaft, leaf & coil springs, dropped forge dies, grooved rolls and welding on pressure vessels and other allied products. Also suitable for buffer layer before Caying hard deposits.

TYPICAL MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF ALL WELD METAL:

UTS (N/mm2) 800
ELONGATION (%) 25

WELDING CURRENT AND SIZE OF ELECTRODE:

SIZE (mm) 2.50 3.15 4.00 5.00
CURRENT (Amps) ac/dc+ 50-70 70-100 90-140 130-190

WELDING PROCEDURE:

  • Clean weld area, hold short arc, run stringer bead, intermittent welding may be used to weld high alloy & hard-enable steel.
  • Peening well relieve internal stresses.
